According to your
website, dhtmlXGrid and dhtmlXTabbar both support IE 5.x and above and Safari
1.3 and above. The same markup from (3) works in Firefox 2.x, but gives error
when I try to display it using IE7 (with javascript enabled)

Please try to load samples by http:// like urls, not file:// like urls. IE has some nasty issues
while loading XML from local file system. While loading as http:// you sample works without errors.
