When I export a grid, I want the numeric cell to be formatted at ‘Number’ so tat user can play around with the numbers.
However, the formatting of these numeric cell is apprearing to be ‘General’.
Is there a way to control the fomratting of the cell while exporting to Excel?

Actually there is no way to specify that cells should be formatted as number, but if it’s a real number then Excel detects it automatically and it’s possible to use a number in formulas for example.
