    2. I would like to define a pre-set list of events of variable duration to place into the calendar say for procedures or events. Is there a simple way to generate a second dhtml grid type list that would support a drag and drop capability?

It can be complicated to support dnd from the grid to the scheduler , but adding events by double-clicking on related entry in grid - is simple task ( addEvent command from onRowSelect event )
