I am using a dhtmlxgrid component and a txt columns. The readability decreases when those fields get too long. (The cell height may take up to half the page)
Is there any way to cut or shorten the visible text in the grid but keep the original text editable and probably viewable as a tooltip?

Only by using single-line mode
There is no way to use multiline mode and have some maximum limit for row height in the same time.
In any mode, full content of cell will be visible through tooltip.
