Format sidebar.php date

I would like to find out if and how I can change the date in the sidebar. the plugin source code for “event-calendar-scheduler/sidebar.php” only says ”{DATE}” and it shows up like this: “August 20, 2010 11:00 am”

is there a way to format that differently? for example, I don’t like the year to show.

Currently plugin uses global date settings of WP, there is no way to define custom date format
