We have an application that uses the grid.setColWidth() method to show or hide particular items when the user clicks a different view. The problem it seems is that the performance of the grid degrades based on the number of records the grid is actually displaying. What alternatives do I have?
Unfortunately there is no way to increase performance in your case. Hiding\showing columns is time-consuming task.
