GRID - Show "loading" to the user while loading and "empty" when no data

Hi,
I’m using a grid and grid.data.load() to get external data from a server to fill the grid.
It sometimes takes time before the grid get filled, and in some case there’s no data to show. Is there a way to show the user that data is loading , or/and data finished loading with nothing to show ?
