How To Change Date Fornate While Event call

Hi ,i want change date format while i call getEvent function…

for example :- i got date like “Thu Sep 16 2010 00:00:00 GMT 0530 (India Standard Time)”
but i want in this format 2010-09-16
any idea …Please help its important for me
