How to remove the checkboxes from the root nodes

Hi,

I want to remove the checkboxes from the root nodes of the tree. The checkboxes should appear for the child nodes of the tree. How to do it?
In the picture, the checkboxes marked in the red are to be removed. Please help me out.

You may use showItemCheckbox method or nocheckbox attribute in the xml:

<item nocheckbox=“1” …>
