is there a way to visually mark non-working hours (they may differ from day to day). The “limit” plugin is not good here, as it makes the hours non-selectable, which I would like to avoid.

It will be posted on the forum or additional news posted on the site.
We are going to provide way to customize event rendering. That mean we pass container which should hold event and then you can specify what and how should be displayed in it.
