When I use the ‘mt’ style of skin and enable the filter header, the filter boxes move up in area of column titles. The height of the filter row seems also too small.
Where in css can I fix this?

You can change style of the header rows using css rule:
div.gridbox table.hdr td { - inner element of the header
div.gridbox table.hdr td div.hdrcell { - outer element of the header
