Nope, unfortunately it is not possible.

That’s unfortunate as it’s a common function users would expect. Is there a way to extend the existing function by writing some code?

Can you describe this common scenario please, how multiselection can be used in the Gantt ?

Well in Microsoft Project for instance you can use CTRL key to select a task (row) then another one and so on. From that you can perform actions such as move/delete in one go. Very useful when you have lots of tasks. Of course dependencies should be re-calculated on the fly.
