Am I reading this correctly that you need to have the professional version to sort columns on a datagrid? If so, then the free version is useless. If I have misread then please correct me. I like this product but jeez, what’s the point of having a free version if one basic functions is only in the pro version?

Normal client side sorting and server side sorting can be used with both standard and pro editions.
If you want to define custom rules for client side sorting - yes, you need a pro version.

Except of custom sorting functions - all other sorting functionality, including related events and methods available in standard edition. ( default sorting types allow to sort data as strings, numbers or dates which covers 95% of sorting use-case )
