Could you please let us know whether dhtmlxgrid supports sorting of column with Japanese Kanji Characters?
If yes, Can you send me the examples?

The component is fully client side and will work with any encoding which supported by browser, so it can be used with any encoding.
Please be sure that
a) xml contains correct encoding attribute
b) page in XML , both loaded in same encoding
