I just gone through the documentation for splitAt functionality.
I came across this note “Important: this mode is incompatible with some grid functionlity.”.
Could you please mention which are the functionalities incompatible with split mode.
That will be great help for us.

The split will not work with
- grouping
- filtering
The next functionality will work, but only for right part of splitted grid
- drag-n-drop
- column moving
Complex structures in header ( colspans and rowspans ) will work stable in right part of grid, and in most cases ( but not in all ) in left part of splitted grid.
