When I click on the buttons, the width of the timeline cells is changed:

But I suspect that you want to decrease the width of the timeline cells, and it is not working as you expect. Right now, there is no way to set a fixed size of the timeline cells. The dev team will add that feature in the future, but I cannot give you any ETA.
Gantt resizes the timeline scales and cells depending on the container size and the displayed date range.
So there are only 2 ways of how to set the fixed size:
